The Handicap Acolyte is an optional ruleset used to balance player strength and protect game enjoyment. The ruleset was introduced using the independent Acolytes included in Onslaught Two's Homebrew Faction expansion. Onslaught Three added unique handicap sculpts for the first nine factions as stretch goals, which were also collected in the CW Onslaught 3 Stretch Goal Box. Currently, Bubastis and Daemon Sultan do not have unique Handicap Acolytes.
If a player is considered too strong compared to the rest of the group, then the Handicap Acolyte replaces one of their six standard Acolytes. If Killed or Eliminated, their Handicap Acolyte is permanently removed from the game, reducing them to a maximum of five Acolytes in play.
If a player is considered too weak compared to the rest of the group, then the Handicap Acolyte is added to their Pool, awarding them a maximum of seven Acolytes in play.
From his ancient tome he intones the words of power. Beware, sane world. The realm of madness awakens at his command.
Strategy[]
Sleeper's Cursed Slumber can be used to protect a Handicap Acolyte indefinitely. Conversely, the Handicap Acolyte can be the first sacrifice to Father Dagon's The Innsmouth Look, allowing an extra round with the more valuable recruitable Acolytes.
